Mount Vernon Rotary supports local schools with a free dictionary for every 3rd grade student in Mount Vernon School District.Mount Vernon Rotary Club was founded on a principle of service, and they continue that tradition each year with a free McMillan's Dictionary for Children for every 3rd grade student in the MV School District. Each book contains illustrations and definitions written at a level that 3rd graders understand and appreciate, Even in our digitally-driven world, these gifts are looked forward to, and appreciated, by all 3rd grade students, their parents and teachers.
In January, a group of Rotarians meet at the School Book Warehouse to receive and organize over 550 dictionaries, sorting them into groups by school, and stamping a Rotary logo on the inside flap. Later in the Spring, these dictionaries will be personally distributed to each elementary school in the District.
