The Mount Vernon Rotary Club honored Lance Fisher as Teacher of the Year.  Lance has taught at Mount Vernon High School for 9 years, and his classes include English 9 and Advanced Placement English.   He pursued a number of careers before he landed on teaching.  Those careers including writing for marketing, music and ministry.  Never losing his love of learning, he returned to Western Washington to earn his teaching degree.  For Lance, it proved a perfect combination of his love of learning with his desire to help young adults understand the world and themselves through literature.   When not teaching, Lance enjoys spending time with his family and friends, and being outside.  Congratulations, Lance, on being named Teacher of the Year by the Mount Vernon Rotary Club

We also honored our June Students of the Month, Emma Carlton and Tyler Berg.  Emma was a Team USA member at the 2017 FINA Junior World Swimming Championship, and is a 4-time State Champion swimmer.  She will attend Texas A & M and major in Kinesiology.  Tyler is the Secretary of the Science Club, a LINK Leader and a member of the Varsity Tennis Team at Mount Vernon High School.  Tyler plans to attend the University of Washington to earn a degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
